Ascona / Manta B
The second generation of the Ascona midsize sedan and the Manta midsize coupe were true bestsellers at Opel dealerships throughout Europe. Alongside them, both models were joined by the “400” variant, a rally homologation model with impressive power (144 PS / 106 kW) from the newly developed 2.4L 16-valve fuel-injected engine. Today, prices for the original Ascona 400 and Manta 400 have reached astronomical heights, yet they are still frequently seen at various motorsports and classic car events—usually much to the delight of enthusiastic spectators.
