Cadet B / Olympic A
Starting in the fall of 1965, Opel promoted the compact class with the slogan “Opel Kadett. The Car.” The Kadett B and the Olympia A were a truly successful duo, with nearly three million units of these models sold by the summer of 1973. The developers didn’t skimp on variants either: from the sedan to various coupes to the station wagon—with two or more doors—all models could be ordered, primarily with the 1.1L OHV engine. Even Opel’s two in-house tuners, Steinmetz and Irmscher, had the B-Kadett in their workshops and developed attractive accessories for customizing the engine and body—items that are now highly sought-after rarities.
