The End of the Luxury Class! With the Senator B, Opel turned its back on the luxury class. It was always just the image that was the problem, never the car itself. The Senator B and the Omega A were outstanding cars—perfect handling paired with powerful and fuel-efficient engines—still a dream even today. I’m about to get carried away… Even the trim levels were wonderful—there was basically something for every budget when it came to customizing the right Omega or Senator. Old Rust, in addition to the image, has also played its part in ensuring that there are hardly any unmodified originals left today. But those that do exist can certainly command high prices. - The Irmscher Senator B 4.0i with 200 kW (C40SE) was equipped with what was, at the time, the world’s highest-torque (production) naturally aspirated engine; most of these vehicles are now firmly in the hands of collectors and enthusiasts. The owners have a truly wonderful car there. Image—what is image, anyway?!?
