Dear Vintage - Opel friends,
I'm pleased to be able to offer you the following article:
1 Button-head rivet for door stop, Opel rear-wheel drive
This rivet will replace the M5 screw, which would otherwise be thrown in during the restoration project as an emergency fix...
When you're still feeling unsure of how to proceed, have a closer look at our set of rivets and tools Klick.
|How to do it? Not a problem: put the button-head rivet into the hinge from above, thus connecting the door stop with the hinge. Having an extra set of hands, and two adequate hammers, is sensible at this point. Hold a heavy hammer (e.g. 800g) UNDER the rivet and put a fair amount of pressure against the loosely installed rivet. The second person should take the second hammer and knock the rivet setter carefully on the rivet head. This should continue until the rivet head is nicely jammed and thus sits securely in the hinge. Please be careful not to damage the paintwork of the vehicle! Having a quick practice beforehand is probably not a bad idea! Wrapping the hammer in fabric tape is also not to your disadvantage, since its less likely to damage the paint... And? Did it work?!? Amazing, right?!? :-)|
